Tunes on the Tuck Featuring Karen “Sugar” Barnes
July 29, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm UTC-4
Who do you get when you mix the pristine vocals of Etta James with the guitar licks of Robert Johnson? You get Dillsboro’s “Sugar” Barnes, that’s who. Sugar plays heritage blues and was one of the founding members of the “Blues Bombers” from Sylva, NC. As well as singing, Karen plays acoustic guitar, slide guitar, and the ukulele.
We’ve moved the ‘Music in the Mountains’ free Saturday concerts from the train depot to Riverfront Park. The newly named ‘Tunes on the Tuck’ location has a large lawn for music-lovers with a covered pavilion for the entertainers. Enjoy sitting at one of the riverside picnic tables, or bring a lawn chair or blanket for the grass. The whole family will enjoy this relaxed, evening event. We’ve got local and regional favorites playing everything from old-time country to bluegrass, Celtic, mountain music, beach music, rock and roll and more. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the local sounds while enjoying the evening in beautiful downtown Bryson City.
